I Will In No Wise Cast Out

“No one who accepts this offer is damned, but only those who refuse it to the last breath.”

John 6:37 – Everything that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I certainly will not cast out.

What an amazing verse! The truth of this verse should bring assurance to all those in Christ. With all of the uncertainty in the world, the Co-Heirs to the promise need only look here to see that God is a God of faithfulness. To come to Christ is to accept the offer of eternal life presented in the gospel message. This acceptance is not the same thing as accepting an offer for a new job, or a piece of candy from a friend. No, this acceptance comes from the Holy Spirit that resides in the believer.

R.C Sproul puts it this way, “The Holy Spirit changes the inclination and disposition of our wills, so that whereas we were previously unwilling to embrace Christ, now we are willing, and more than willing.”

Ezekiel 36:26 teaches, “Moreover, I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; and I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.” God melts the heart of stone away and enables us, through the power of the Holy Spirit, to come to Christ. Sproul goes on to say, “Holy Spirit resurrects us from spiritual death, so that we come to Christ because we want to come to Christ.” Those that come will not be cast out.

The comfort of Christ is brought to those in Him, but terror will be brought on those outside for “it is a terrifying thing to fall into the hands of the living God. (Hebrews 10:31)”
