John MacArthur and Grace Community Church recently sent a letter of solidarity and unity with all faithful Canadian Christians to show they stand for Biblical truth. Link and Video attached here for your perusal. Additionally, they called for all who would take the pulpit this weekend to teach on Biblical Sexual Morality to show how significant the commands and ordinances of God are to Christians.
While we are not taking the pulpit this weekend, Danny and I will join in writing on this important and essential topic. Today, we stand with our co-laborers in the Gospel of Jesus Christ in Canada who are facing threats of oppression and attack against that which Christians hold as true, have held as true for millennia, and will continue to hold as true into eternity. Whatever God has ordained as objective reality cannot be altered. While this includes many aspects of reality, the focus here is on the objective reality of God creating and establishing the unalterable genders of “male” and “female” who are meant to co-exist in pure relationships in accordance to God’s decrees. Within those decrees includes marriage between one man and one woman who are to exemplify Christ’s relationship with the Church (Ephesians 5). Any relationship that falls short or attempts to redefine what God has defined is sinful and worthy of condemnation (Romans 3:4; James 2:10). However, the Lord Jesus Christ brings salvation to any who repent and call on His name for salvation and forgiveness of sins (Romans 3:21-26).
We believe in God’s holy law in private and public and we ascribe to His divine decrees in private and in public therefore we will stand with His law despite what humanity and culture attempt to force.
Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you; but you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God.
1 Corinthians 6:9-11
Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves, because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen. For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature; and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error. And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind to do what ought not to be done. They were filled with all manner of unrighteousness, evil, covetousness, malice. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, maliciousness. They are gossips, slanderers, haters of God, insolent, haughty, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, foolish, faithless, heartless, ruthless. Though they know God’s righteous decree that those who practice such things deserve to die, they not only do them but give approval to those who practice them.
Romans 1:24-32
Christians do not place their hope nor confidence in the tumultuous and shifting subjective realities of humanity but on the decrees of the Sovereign Creator and Sustainer of the Universe. By extension, it is the Lord’s exclusive right to establish objective morality and axioms for His Creation.
As His peculiar and precious people, saved by the precious blood of Christ through His willing life, death, burial, resurrection, and exaltation, the realities of God’s reign and rule in our lives are to be all-encompassing. Therefore, the reality that God has created and ordained is the reality to which we subscribe with all aspects of our being. Out of love for God and His Son, we strive to follow His commands by faith with joy. Service to our God is a pleasure, not burdensome.
Christians can be the greatest of citizens because we are commanded to be submissive to governing authorities since they have been given responsibility to rule well by God. However, when the government shirks that responsibility and attempts to usurp the role of God by demanding evil be called good and good evil, then, as Peter said, “We must obey God rather than man.” We call all people to repent of their sins and believe in Jesus Christ for salvation and hope. What is sin? Sin is any action, thought, or word that falls short of God’s holy standard or is deemed as condemning by the Lord God Almighty. (Romans 1-3). The definition of sin is not malleable, alterable, or flexible and cannot be mitigated by any attempt of humanity to lessen the righteous judgement demanded of sin. We will hold fast to God’s immutable (unchanging) goodness rather than mankind’s ever-changing futilities.
Pray for the Christians in Canada and around the world as they faithfully proclaim the Gospel of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, to an ever-growing hostile world. Do not let a day pass where we are not interceding for our brothers and sisters in Christ around the world.
Stand firm Christian.
Grace and peace,
Titus Varney and Danny Hackett
