The first chapter of Genesis is packed with a myriad of doctrines and has been the subject of study and sermons for thousands of years. In fact, Jesus Himself taught on it in Mark 10:6, “But from the beginning of creation, ‘God made them male and female.”
As Christians, we hold to the Bible as being the ultimate authority and that it is the infallible Word of God. As we read the verse above, we see that there is a stark contrast to God’s designs for mankind, male and female, to the world’s definition of gender. The world is constantly trying to redefine a truth that has been taught and recognized since the beginning of time. In order to accomplish this, an all-out attack on the Word of God has been unleashed on basic Biblical Morality, biology, sexuality and gender. The world holds to a subjective truth about those things, while the Bible has stayed this course since the beginning of time. The sad reality is if we were to stand up and quote this truth we would be looked at as hateful and evil.
The reason that Titus and I are writing these rare Sunday articles about Biblical sexuality is there was a call for fellow brothers to stand with those who stand for the truth taught in Genesis 1:27. Saints we are told to contend for the faith. We are to stand firm on the doctrine of God, no matter what the cost and let me tell you, the cost is coming.
On January 8, 2022, it became illegal in Canada to preach, teach, or counsel on God’s design for marriage and on biblical sexuality. Brothers and sisters, we must stand firm now and preach all the more the entire counsel of God. If you think that the US is not on the same course you are sadly mistaken, for it is only a matter of time before we too find ourselves in the same boat. So let us defend and contend for the faith that saves. Let us declare the entire counsel of God, even if the Word leads us into uncomfortable circumstances.
The design of marriage and sexuality is not something we created; this was the design of the Almighty God, and to add to it or to change it is something that the Bible is very clear on. Take Deuteronomy 4:2 “You shall not add to the word that I command you, nor take from it, that you may keep the commandments of the LORD your God that I command you; and Revelation 22:18 – “I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: if anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book, and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his share in the tree of life and in the holy city, which are described in this book.” When God created there were two genders male and female and now the world wants to continue to add more and call it good. The world is saying the Bible is outdated and based on culture, but I am here to tell you that God transcends culture, and His Word is truth and will stand the test of time (Matthew 24:35 –Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.
The Christ of Scripture taught on the very nature of marriage and gender and did not bend to cultural demands then and He will not bend to them now. Neither should we. The Pharisees and religious leaders of Jesus’s time were guilty of adding and taking away from Scripture and sadly nothing much has changed today (Matthew 15:3-9). Many sources claim to know Christ, whether they be philosophical, psychological, individual revelation, etc. The one thing that we must understand is that the Christ of Scripture is not the same as “a christ of scripture and tradition”, or “a christ of scripture and popular science”, or “a christ of scripture and political correctness” or “a christ of scripture and cultural norms (whether old or new). There is one God and One Word of God and they have spoken their Words are the truth that we stand firm on. The truth is that God created man and woman and designed marriage to take place between one man and one woman. That is proper that is true, all others are an insult to God’s design and sinful. Brothers and sisters, the time is now where we are to proclaim the truth of God and not shy away because we fear rejection. For to stand and contend for the faith is acceptable and pleasing to God. So, pick up your sword and stand with me and our fellow Saints as we stand firm on God’s design for marriage and sexuality.
